There is a list somewhere on this site, just check under the Missle Weapons Properties of the Guides section,
As for that bows specific range, I'm not sure, but I think it's fairly short range, maybe same as a flat bow. But don't take my word for it, your best bet is to compare it to other bows and find the one you like best. |

Thank you, very much. It's either Flatbow or Longbow, and both of them have a range of 100'. :]

Flat and Long bows are terrible. Their range is wonderful but horrible fire rate and accuracy at moving target is bad. I prefer half moons.

There is a collector in Mineral Springs with an Ascalon bow (15-28, 15% > 50%HP) that is a Shortbow. Takes 5 Mountain Troll Tusks, which can be gathered just outside Droknar's Forge fairly easily. Since Shortbows and Halfmoon bows are the same, this should work fine.

Longbows have 2nd best critical ingame. Different builds call for different bows. Half moons make long ranged snipers look like hypocrits, while quick shot rangers can't stand long bows.

Honestly I would run at least one of each. Long is great for sniping and pulling and the shorts for everything else.
As an added note I personally have 4 different bows at all time Last edited by Fye Duron; Jul 13, 2005 at 07:12 PM // 19:12.. |

Here's the chart
Type---------Range------Speed(in between shots) Short Bow----112 feet---- ~2 secs. Long Bow-----167 feet--- ~2.5 secs. Flat Bow-------67 feet--- ~2 secs. Recurve Bow---142 feet-- ~2.5 secs. Horn Bow------142 feet-- ~2.7 secs. a Half Moon is considered a Short Bow This info. is from the Prima Guide and the guide is the only thing that Guild Wars endorses, cause it with made with the help of Arenanet, so I highly doubt it's wrong. Is that the same guide that got weapons in it that aren't even in the game? Just so you know, Prima is not the end of all things, they aren't even a start...

Depending on your style, you'll want a long/storm/flatbow (THEY HAVE THE SAME RANGE YOU MORONS), or a halfmoon/short bow. Other bows like horn, eternal, shadow just suck in general.
I personally carry a longbow and a flatbow on me. Flatbow shoots faster, but has higher trajectory. So I use it for mid-close range fighting or when there is something like favorable winds down. Long bow for LONG range (duh!). I guess I should get a short/halfmoon for those close range fights where I REALLY need that 2/10 of a second speed (just to get in 12 shots in the time my flatbow would get a pitiful 10).... But that comes AFTER I get 15k druids armor. EDIT - The Prima guide is horribly out of date, half the stuff in it has been fixed/changed/nerfed |

From my experience and this post flatbow and longbow have the same range. But flatbow has a faster refire rate.

People only buy the "useless" bows like Horn bows because they have godly mods at cheap prices or because they believe that certain types of bows have innate properties. I've heard that Horn bows have a passive +10% armor penetration at all times, but I have yet to test this. I'll be testing this soon, though. |

Stormbows are the same as Longbows. Anyone who says a Horn Bow/Shadow Bow sucks though has never used one. Refire isn't everything, and against an opponent with a higher AC, that inherent +10% armor penetration goes a long way. Same with the Recurve/Composite/Eternal Bows, just because it has a slower recycle time than the Flat and Short, people immediately throw it by the wayside and don't realize that it has the fastest travel time, and thus highest accuracy, in the game.

so what would you guys recomend for my ignitearrows/dualshot combo ranger? i generally dont like to be hit so i stay back at a distance. i suppose this means either the long distance bows(longbow/flat). but the idea of not missing my shots really turns me twards the composite family. any suggestions?
EDIT: oh yea im curently usin a fiery halfmoon of defense. i got the clean halfmoon the second i got into post searing(lvl 7ish) and its been very reliable ever since(lvl 17 now). i also added the upgrades myself. now im lookin for a clean bow max damage bow, pref the +damage health>50% kind Last edited by carnivore; Jul 19, 2005 at 05:09 AM // 05:09.. |

A long bow will be fine, though you won't get much use about that Ignite/Dual combo unless your Tiger's Fury or Read the Wind is on. I used to love Long Bows for the exact reason you stated. I use bows, therefore I don't need to be in the thick of things...god forbid I run into an AoE while using a short bow.
But, I realized that a Ranger has to use the terrain to his advantage anyway. Using a short bow on high ground means that your range is extended...sometimes enough to be completely at a regular long bow's range. But, in *any* case, you'll need a short bow if you happen to find yourself surrounded. After all, it's as easy as pressing F1/2/3/4 to switch back to your original long bow. |
